Denia Area Info
Denia is a fascinating place, with a rich cultural history, and is characterised by its rugged coastal landscape. Denia´s coastline is made up of jutting cliffs and hidden coves. There are shingle beaches to the south and fine golden sandy beaches to the north.
Denia is described as the capital of the Marina Alta, an area which has been called “Spain’s gourmet coast.” Foodies will love it here – the variety and quality of places to eat out in is remarkable. The town also boasts a range of high class shops and restaurants centred on the main tree lined avenue known as Marques de Campo.
From Denia´s landmark castle there are spectacular views over the city and the port. The port is an important commercial passenger hub that offers ferry connections to Ibiza and Mallorca. There are also mini cruises to many of the other resorts along this gorgeous stretch of coastline, including Javea, Calpe and Altea.
There are two main harbours in Denia. The northern commercial harbour is occupied by the ferry terminal and fishing fleet. The south harbour houses the Denia Marina and has many quality restaurants overlooking the sea and harbour. Close to the harbour is the promenade and the traditional fisherman´s village, with narrow streets and many popular bars and restaurants. This area has managed to keep its original, authentic Spanish charm.
The biggest attraction of owning your own Denia property, though, has to be its proximity to the coast and its 20km of stunning, mostly Blue Flag beaches. Head north to Playa de las Marinas for lovely, quiet sandy beaches, backed with a range of bars and restaurants. To the south towards Les Rotes there are rocky coves and transparent waters – great for exploring. There are also great facilities for water sports.
Dénia enjoys average yearly warm temperatures of 20°. However, temperatures can reach up to 40°C in summer. Winters are mild, only dropping to 5°C in the winter months. This climate means you can enjoy all this fabulous region has to offer all year round.
Denia has a population of approx. 44,000 year round inhabitants, 30% of which are foreign nationals. During the summer months the population of Denia can increase by up to 200,000 people, with the influx of visitors and holidaymakers.
Property for sale in in Denia is also popular with golf lovers as the Costa Blanca is without doubt a golf player’s paradise. There are over fifteen 18 hole golf courses in the Costa Blanca, all within a 2 hour drive of Denia.
