Javea is divided into three main parts: the historical centre or old town, the busy Javea port area and Playa de Arenal, the most popular local beach. The old town has remained largely unchanged over the centuries and still retains its character and charm. The whitewashed streets, arched walkways and gothic windows reflect Javea´s rich heritage.
The port and old town have largely merged now but the busy, working port at Javea is a great place to watch the world go by. Here you can find the ´La Grava´ pebble beach with its lovely promenade and good range of restaurants with open air terraces. Javea plays host to a fantastic range of markets, filled with fresh local produce. Everything needed for everyday living is here: supermarkets, medical centres, schools, Javea’s Golf Club, and a Nautical Club. Catering for an international clientele, the range of places to eat and drink is vast – and very affordable; eating out can be an everyday event.
Further south of the town lies Arenal Beach. This beach is a favourite with tourists as it is the only sandy beach offering leisure and sports facilities. There is also a promenade offering lots of bars and restaurants catering mainly to tourists and the foreign nationals.
Continuing south you will find La Barraca Cove, a pebble beach with beautiful crystal clear waters, Granadilla Beach and many other beautiful hidden coves and beaches. Javea, like many of the other costal towns on the north costa blanca has a low construction density along its 25km of beautiful coastline.
