With its impressive high-rise skyline, reminiscent of Manhattan, Benidorm is like nowhere else on the Costa Blanca. It’ a beautiful location – close to breathtaking mountains – and built around a rocky promontory which separates the two main beaches: Poniente and Levante. The easterly Playa de Levante (Sunrise Beach) is backed by a broad promenade, and countless bars and cafes. Playa de Poniente (Sunset Beach) is the longer beach, and a little less crowded – though very popular with families. As its name suggests, the sunsets here are spectacular. There are endless bars, cafes, restaurants, discos and nightclubs as well as the Costa Blanca Casino, one of Spain’ largest. For Benidorm at its most flashy, don’t miss the Benidorm Palace where you can enjoy dinner and a 3 hour Las Vegas style floorshow. Benidorm is surprisingly green though – thanks to the foresightedness of the onetime Mayor of Benidorm, who, back in 1954, created a city building plan that required all buildings to have an area of ‘leisure land.’ It’ a rule still strictly adhered to, and a bird’ eye view of the resort shows an amazing expanse of green spaces.
There’ more to Benidorm than the night-life though – in winter, the resort is much quieter and attracts a more mature clientele, many of whom rent out their properties as holiday lets over the summer months. It’ a great place for families, with no end of places to visit: theme parks like Terra Mitica and the wildlife park at Terra Natura, Aqualandia Water Park and the marine animal park, Mundomar.
Sixty kilometres east of Alicante International Airport; it takes less than an hour to reach Benidorm by car – and with most flights from the UK taking a little over two hours – it’ a breeze to get here.
Of Benidorm’ 67,000 residents, 1 in 4 is foreign – it’ an incredibly popular location for overseas buyers and prices reflect that. It is still possible to pick up an apartment relatively cheaply but we also have some exclusive detached villas with pools and luxury townhouses. It’s hard to think of a better location for both investment and buy-to-let potential.
