Macastre PropertiesValencia inland properties are an appealing choice for many UK buyers – Mascastre has some stunning country properties – mainly villas. Macastre is located in the Hoya de Bunol region of the province of Valencia, roughly 46 kilometres from Valencia City. A typical Spanish town, Macastre lies between the basins of the River Bunol and the Magro River. Traditionally a farming town, growing olives, grapes and carob, Mascastre produces olive oil of a very high quality – something quite important for Spanish people! The countryside around Mascastre is beautiful – a rolling landscape of hills and valleys, withthe town itself lying at the bottom of a hill, on top of which is perched the Macastre Castle Tower, the emblem of Macastre. The castle is now in ruins but this is where the town of Macastre originally started with a history stretching back to 268 BC. Like most Spanish towns and villages, Macastre has its fair share of Fiestas. The first one of the year begins in the last weekend of January – normal business grinds to a halt and everyone joins in with the feasting and fun. Various other Fiestas are held throughout the year: San Jose, Saint Vincent, Taurine week and the Clavarias daughters of Mary, to name a few. All involve food and music; some involve games, sports, fairs and the ‘mascletà’. ‘Mascletà’ is very popular with the Valencian people. It is an explosive show with a co-ordinated firecracker and fireworks display. Something to be experienced! Macastre is best reached via Valencia airport, approximately 45 minutes drive away. Take the A3 from Valencia and then the Bunol exit and reach Macastre via the CV-425. HomeEspana’s Macastre properties are well worth a look if you dream of a Spanish villa in an idyllic country setting.
