Elche Property

Property in Elche is extremely good value. 23km inland from Alicante (only 12km from the airport) it is well placed to explore the Costa Blanca. Elche has the largest palm grove in Europe which gives it an exotic, North African atmosphere.

Elche has various sites of historical interest – the Altamira Palace, the Basilica Santa Maria, a Moorish fortress and Moorish baths. Elche also has an outstanding municipal park, outdoor swimming pool and sports park. Near Elche is the Rio Safari Park – a wonderful day out for the whole family. Elche’s Fiesta Patronales every August is one of Spain’s best known fiestas, and the Miseri d’Elx has been performed here every year since the 13th century.

The Elche Property Market

The third largest city in Valencia, Elche has all the amenities you would expect – including an English school. It's an excellent shopping centre, with a thriving street market on Mondays and Saturdays and a craft market on Sundays. The coast is 20 minutes' drive away, and there are good motorway links giving easy access to other areas of Spain. Around Elche is largely agricultural – property here tends to be farmhouses (fincas), country houses (cortijos) and villas and can be very reasonably priced.
